A lot can be said about our comfortable Bed and Breakfast Jordaan in the centre of Amsterdam. Yes, we received a 'BedandBreakfast.com Award -Europe 2007/08'. But we figure that an endless website would be as bothering as a talkative host.
The Jordaan is a dense patch of small-scale streets and canals peppered with interesting shops, galleries, charming 'hofjes' and inviting brown cafes. Quirky and characterful, with an intimate, easy-going atmosphere of it's own. It was built for workers at the same time as the Grachtengordel.
Our house was originally built by a master carpenter and his family and later rebuilt by a printersfamily. The story is told by the old, picturesque craftsmanship tile in our gable. It is a historic part of the Jordaan since 1663. When Bed and Breakfast Jordaan opened it's doors in 2001 it was skilfully renovated with help of the Amsterdam Gable-sign Fund.
In the beginning of this year (2008) we renovated our entire B&B and private house. We kept the traditional atmosphere while building brand new bathrooms. Just making sure that everything meets our (now even higher) standards
